Welcome to Homeschool4Him!
updated: November 2009

I developed this site to spend some time talking to and encouraging other homeschool families. Be sure to visit my blog where I talk about homeschooling, curriculum, great websites, cooking and organizing meals, marriage and parenting, God, and life in general. You are welcome here, so feel free to comment on the posts.

Well, since it is an About Me page, I should talk about me. Married 18 years to an awesome man I love to support, encourage, and follow around the country. 3 amazing kids who I home school. Oldest is 13, home schooled 9 years... more if you count the pre-K stuff! He is my Guinea pig, always testing my crazy homeschool ideas. He is smart, godly, becoming a handsome and wonderful young man. Middle child is 9, she’s a wonderful young lady who loves animals and is hilarious; she will be an amazing woman. 3rd child is 8, and he is a blast: smart, funny and energetic.

Hobbies: cooking, keeping my home the best I can, reading, crochet, dog training, writing, trying to get into gardening, a little sewing, used to scrapbook but not too much any more. I also run the homeschool 4-H club in my area, CHEF 4-H. The more I learn about 4-H, the more I love it! So much to do and such fun! My DH and I are planning to take a class in December to become instructors for the shooting sports program. Currently, my children are in photography and entomology project books in 4-H.

My philosophy: laugh about it if you can; God made us for friendship and fellowship above everything else in this world; put your family first; don’t give your kids everything they ask for; hug your family every day; you’re never too old to snuggle; all that you have belongs to God so make the most of it and thank Him; it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been married- it’s no excuse not to give it all you’ve got and love like there’s no tomorrow--- that’s why we’re here! And lastly, the Bible is always right in all circumstance about everything it talks about whether science, history, relationships, or living life. I am a young earth Creationist. I do not believe in evolution (it is ruining our children and making them feel worthless), and I do not subscribe to the current philosophy of “if it feels good, do it.” Discipline and self-control are not bad habits.. LOL!

As far as my homeschooling philosophy: my children do work on their level, regardless of the grade. They like school because we have fun, and we also have hard things they do that aren’t a lot of fun. I give them challenges like skill time and Latin to round them and help them see the big picture of education. We take field trips and spend a lot of time talking and engaging one another which is a huge blessing. My oldest is in 8th grade this year, but he works on a high school level in most subjects. So, we are counting credits towards his degree and we will slow down when we need to so that he can work on other projects. Having an extra year to complete high school will be a wonderful blessing! I love being a home school mom, and plan to take it one year at a time. It is such hard work! I never seem to stop working with them or planning the next thing we are going to work on.

On this site, I will offer pages where you can download recipes, homeschool files, and other things I find along my journey. I’m learning to use a program called RapidWeaver to publish my site, so be patient as I learn. I began my blogging experience in January 2009, using WordPress, but I had so very many problems with losing data and site crashes. I finally gave up after someone in Indonesia hacked my site and began putting their stuff into my site. Ugh! After a really long summer, I finally have time to begin working on my blog again. I hope to get some of my old posts up in the next month or so.

I hope you will find this a place to relax and enjoy yourself, and maybe even leave refreshed and encouraged. Thanks for stopping by!

Below is one of my favorite verses. It is about Abraham when he entertained the Lord and His angels before they went to Sodom. You never know who my be passing by; take the opportunity to extend yourself out to someone. Who knows who it might be?

Gen. 18:3-5
He said, “If I have found favor in your eyes, my lord, do not pass your servant by. Let a little water be brought, and then you may all wash your feet and rest under this tree. Let me get you something to eat, so you can be refreshed and then go on your way — now that you have come to your servant.”
